The Colon Health Project
A Long-Term Physician-Led Public Health Initiative
The Colon Health Project is a long-term, physician-led public health initiative created by gastroenterologist Veronika Gagovic, MD.
Its mission is to make colon cancer prevention and gut health education clear, accessible, and grounded in real medical evidence.
As a practicing GI physician, Dr. Gagovic has seen how many cases of colon cancer could be avoided with earlier screening and better public understanding.
This project was created to bridge that gap—bringing practical, trustworthy information directly to individuals, families, and communities.
The initiative focuses on three core pillars that directly influence long-term colon and gut health:
Colon Cancer Prevention & Screening:
Promoting timely screening, recognizing risk factors, and removing fear and confusion surrounding the process.
Microbiome Education:
Explaining how gut bacteria influence inflammation, digestion, immunity, and colon cancer risk—in simple, practical language.
Lifestyle Medicine:
Providing realistic guidance on nutrition, movement, sleep, and stress, and how these habits support colon and overall health.
The Colon Health Project exists to empower people with the information they need to take proactive steps toward colon cancer prevention and lifelong digestive wellness. At its core, this project is about clarity, education, and strengthening community health—led by a physician who believes that informed patients are powerful patients.
“Prevention is love in action - for ourselves, our families and our community”
